For a change, I am not whingeing on my blog http://www.miteamshirts.com . I am making you aware of a few sports personalities who represent my home town of Chorley.
TOUR de FRANCE
I think he will be the first ‘Brit’ since Stephen Roche in the 80′s to win the Tour. 1984 I think (don’t quote me tho’). I am following the tour on ITV 4. I am always amazed at how the cyclists can endure 4 hours plus of physical torture every day just to get over the finishing line.
who in partnership with Gary is player coach at Chorley.
Under their guidance I am confident that with the right all round support, including the superb fan base, which averages 1000 per home game, they will gain automatic promotion to the ‘Conference Division‘ this coming season, which they narrowly missed out on via the playoffs last season.
Geography and P.E teacher Stuart Stokes at Holy Cross High School, Chorley is representing us in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the Olympic games. He is the only Olympian in the squad ‘to my knowledge’ to have a full time job as well as having had to train and then gain a qualifying time, which he did in Brussels and then again in Spain within 10 days of each other. How many of us ‘mere mortals’ could be training at 4.30 each morning, 7 days per week and then do a full days work afterwards? Good luck to Stuart.
Phil Nicholson is another Chorley sports personality ‘based in Adlington‘ who is very well known on Sky Sports TV and the Professional Darts Circuit. He missed out on playing in the forthcoming Darts Premier League by a very narrow margin, but is a force to be reckoned with.
I am still a reluctant Blackburn Rovers fan, but my match days will now be spent at Victory Park, Chorley F.C.
That’s it for now, so as usual, take care and stay healthy
