Hiya Guys

Before my blog I just want to let Preston    and Blackpool  fans know that we now have their new 2/3 way HOME and AWAY shirts in stock including the red England shirt on the inside and will have photos soon.

Just a few words about the history of my home club Blackburn Rovers and their opponents Liverpool F C.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club  is an English professional association football club based in the town of Blackburn, Lancashire. The team currently competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football Tho languishing in the bottom 3 before this evening game.

The club was established in 1875, becoming a founding member of The Football League in 1888.

They are one of only three clubs to have been both a founder member of the Football League and the Premier League (the others being Aston Villa and Everton).

In 1890 Rovers moved to its permanent home at Ewood Park.

Prior to the formation of the Premier League in 1992, most of the club’s successes were before 1930, when it had gained league and FA Cup trophies on several occasions. Relegation in 1966 was followed by 26 successive seasons of football outside the top flight.

In 1992, Blackburn were promoted to the new Premier League a year after being taken over by local steel baron Jack Walker, who installed Kenny Dalglish as manager.

In 1995, Blackburn became league champions, having spent millions of pounds on players like Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton. However, the title-winning team was quickly split up and, in 1999, the club was relegated.  They were promoted back to the Premier League two years later, just after Jack ‘Uncle Jack’ Walker’s death, and have been in the top flight ever since. During that time they  qualified for the UEFA Cup four times: once as League Cup winners, twice as the Premier League’s sixth-placed team and once via the Intertoto Cup. The 2009–10 season marked the club’s 70th nonconsecutive year in the top flight.

Blackburn are currently one of only four clubs to have won the Premier League, along with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. The club’s Latin motto is “Arte et labore”, the club’s translation of which is “By Skill & Hard Work”. Coincidentally my old school (St Augustine’s, Chorley) motto was the same.

Liverpool Football Club is  an English Premier League football club based in Liverpool, Merseyside. Liverpool has won 18 League titles, the second most in English football, as well as seven FA Cups and a record eight League Cups. Liverpool has also won more European titles than any other English club, with five European Cups, three UEFA Cups and three UEFA Super Cups.

Liverpool was founded in 1892 and admitted into the Football League the following year. The club has played at its home ground, Anfield, since its founding, and the team has played in an all-red home strip since 1964. The most successful period in Liverpool’s history was the 1970s and ’80s, when the club won numerous honours both domestically and in Europe.

The club’s supporters have been involved in two major tragedies. The first was the Heysel Stadium disaster in 1985, in which charging Liverpool fans caused a wall to collapse, killing 39 Juventus supporters. In the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, 96 Liverpool supporters lost their lives due to a crush against perimeter fencing.

Liverpool has long-standing rivalries with city neighbours Everton and with Manchester United. The club’s anthem is “You’ll Never Walk Alone“.

Incidentally the anthem originates from the musical ‘Carousel’ and was sung by Mario Lanza.

I hope it’s a good game and we can move out of the ‘BOTTOM THREE’.

While typing this blog Liverpool have just scored 2 goals inside 2 minutes. BAD NEWS.

Take care

THE INTERNATIONAL MUST HAVE SPORTS SHIRT 2012

We can produce any of the 16 International teams home and away 2-in-1 shirts.

Congrats to all you Blackpool seasiders for getting into the next round of the FA Cup by winning really well against Sheffield Wednesday.

Being a Blackburn Rovers fan I applaud you. I want to blame Steve Keane for the demise of ‘Rovers’ and I can’t see them escaping relegation, but I won’t lay the blame solely on his shoulders cos it’s the owners who are to blame by sacking Sam Allardyce when he was doing a good job and would have done even better with the ‘promised’ money to spend  from the new owners. How much have they put into the club since the ‘Walker’ family SOLD OUT? ‘UNCLE JACK’ must be screaming from above.

During the Blackpool match did I see a back pass to the goalkeeper that the ref didn’t see?

Regarding the ‘back pass’ rule, if a defender was on the goal line with the ball and the goalkeeper was in front of him ie; near the penalty spot and the defender passed the ball to the keeper who then picked the ball up, would that be judged to be a back pass, because he is actually passing the ball forward to the goalkeeper or would the ref cop out by saying it was ‘unsportsmanship’?

Come on U REFS give me ur opinion to this blog @www. myteamshirts.com.

Who’s gonna stop Barcelona winning the Copa del Rey?

Spanish la lega  is so different to  the Premiership, and if Barca where in the Premiership I think it would take them at least 3 seasons to win the title because most Spanish players would not get away with their culture of ‘diving’ to gain a free kick or penalty in the Premiership,

Some foreign players do con the ref”s occassionally but not as often as when they first came into the English League.

Remember the stick that Klinsman got when he was at  Spurs?

The crowd gave him so much stick that he soon stopped his diving and became a better player.

When Ronaldo was at  Man Utd and he stopped diving he scored more goals in the season cos he stayed on his feet. He had his highest goal tally in a season at United so again as per usual I rest my case.

Good news that Harry Redknapp is now available for consideration for the England Managers job after Fabio Capello’s resignation.

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!!!!

I don’t blame him actually cos if you are employed to run a company, would you want your board to tell you what to do? Why employ you then go over your head by making decisions that they’re employing you to make?

That’s this ‘Old Gits’ thoughts and winge for the blog today.

Take care til’ the next one

Regards Jimbo
